Materials Testing Machines & Services
Mechanical materials and components testing is the world we live in - it's our passion. Our products are always developed and manufactured within the ZwickRoell Group, guaranteeing seamless interaction of all components, and reliable test results for you - with 160 years experience, 187 experts, over 20 industries, more than 18,201 standards.
Why are we a perfect partner in materials testing? The answers to that question can be found in our testing machines themselves: you can rigorously test our machines in the lab at our Ulm headquarters, or in one of our laboratories worldwide – of course using your own specimens.
ZwickRoell provides individually tailored services and support through the entire life cycle of your materials testing machine, which includes installation, commissioning, application and software training, (preventive) maintenance, calibration, retrofitting, modernization, and disposal.
Our comprehensive testing accessories portfolio offers the right solution for every test task—whether specimen grips, extensometers, software, electronics or any other type of accessory. Based on ZwickRoell’s modular and well thought out machine design, customized retrofitting is possible any time— regardless of the generation of your current machine.
Universal Testing Machines for Static Applications up to 5,000 kN
Static Materials Testing Machines
The first choice for tensile, compression and flexure tests, and for shear and torsion tests. Our static materials testing machines are ideal for standard tests as well as complex tasks in the areas of materials and components testing.
Universal testing machines (UTM) for static applications are specially designed for tensile tests, compression tests, flexure tests and shear tests. They are ideal for standard tests, but also for complex test tasks in the field of materials and components testing. They provide a flexible solution for tests on a wide variety of materials and components for applications in any industry. Whether it be for low test forces or large loads, quality control or research projects, universal testers provide excellent reproducibility of test results.
High capacity testing machines up to 5,000 kN, commonly used for metals testing. One specific area of application is testing steel for reinforcement or prestressing of concrete. High test loads are also often required for tests on screws and nuts.
High-temperature testing systems offer standard solutions in a temperature range of -80°C up to +1,600°C and customized testing solutions up to +2,000°C.
Time and creep test machines cover the complete range of creep testing applications up to 10,000 hours. The robust design of these testing machines supports creep testing up to a force of 250 kN, and is available with a central lead screw or double lead screw.
ZwickRoell torsion testing equipment covers a wide range of torsion tests and can be adapted to your specific applications. Starting with a single-axis torsion testing machine, with maintenance-free AC servo drive and torque range from 20 - 500 Nm or 1,000 - 2,000 Nm. UTM equipped with a 2 - 2,000 Nm to torsion drive for test loads up to 250 kN.
Biaxial and Triaxial Testing Machines for static torsion testing with torsion drives from 2 Nm to 2,000 Nm for torsion tests on materials or components. Biaxial Tensile Test (Cruciform Test) used to determine the deformation properties of the material.
Testing machines for sheet metal forming (BUP) are used to determine and evaluate characteristic values of the ductility of sheet metals.
Dynamic and fatigue testing systems
Fatigue testers
Fatigue testing machines are used to determine the performance of materials and products. Compared to static testing machines, dynamic fatigue testing machines are able to test materials under realistic loading conditions to evaluate their fatigue strength, elasticity and other mechanical properties. We use various physical drive principles for our dynamic testing machines. Each method has its own advantages and specific application ranges. This allows us to find the right solution for every one of your specifications. Fatigue-torsion testing machines are available in the form of servohydraulic machines or electrodynamic machines. Our axial torsion testing machines cover a wide range of torsion tests and can be adapted to your specific applications.
The LTM is an electrodynamic testing machine with a drive based on linear motor technology. It can be used for dynamic fatigue tests, as well as for static materials and component testing. The electrodynamic LTM testing machine is used by industries that favor oil free and low noise drive technology, such as the medical and electronics industries/ The LTM additionally offers flexible application options for the automotive and plastics sectors.
Servohydraulic testing machines are used to determine material characteristic values under vibrating loads, including S-N tests (high cycle fatigue tests), LCF tests (low cycle fatigue) or fracture mechanics tests.
The HTM series servohydraulic high-speed testing machines allow you to determine strain-rate-dependent characteristic values over a wide speed range. Uses for machine include puncture tests and high-speed tensile tests, as well as peel, and shear tests at high speeds.
Vibrophores are resonance testing machines that use a mechanical resonator in connection with an electromagnetic drive. The vibrophore’s electromagnetic drive delivers large force amplitudes with low energy input, so they work more efficiently than conventional instruments.
The electromechanical servo-testing actuators can be universally used as flexible testing machines. They can be easily integrated in test fixtures for both static tests or fatigue tests with large strokes. Applications range from materials and components testing to tests performed on end products.
Automated testing systems
Our automated testing systems support and simplify many tests: with our modular system for robotic testing systems we can perform the necessary tests efficiently and reproducibly. We offer automated testing systems that are perfectly matched to your application – from compact systems for simple tests, to collaborating robots, and large-scale systems for complex test tasks.
Products for Impact Testing
Pendulum impact testers
You will find a wide range of pendulum impact testers for notched-specimen impact tests on plastics and metals. We provide standard-compliant testing to Charpy, Dynstat and Izod, as well as impact tensile-Method A/B from 5.5 to 750 joules.
Drop weight testers
Our drop weight testers are ideal for testing of plastics and composites, as well as metals testing. The Amsler HIT series drop weight testers range from 230 to 2,000 joules, and the high-energy drop weight testers for metals testing go up to 120,000 joules.
