SPECTARIS – German Industry Association for Optics, Photonics, Analytical and Medical Technologies

SPECTARIS is the German Industry Association for Optical, Medical and Mechatronical Technologies. The association was founded in 1881 and currently consists of about 400 member companies. SPECTARIS mainly represents small and medium-sized enterprises - more than 90 percent of its members are SMEs. But also key market players are amongst SPECTARIS' members.

Core services offered to member companies are: lobbying and industry marketing, statistics and market research, external trade promotion and regulatory affairs.

SPECTARIS is divided into four sector-specific associations:

• Consumer Optics
• Photonics + Precision Technology
• Medical Technology
• Analytical, Bio- and Laboratory Technology

Each subdivision is headed by an experienced director according to the needs of the companies in this particular area. In 2010, an independent sector-specific association for Analytical, Bio- and Laboratory Technology was founded in recognition of the importance of this industry sector and many new activities and services have been initiated since.
